Daryl DeLeon Racing

Biography

Daryl DeLeon Taylor is a Filipino-British racing driver that currently competes in the 2024 British Touring Car Championship with Unlimited Motorsport.

Born in 2005 to a Filipino mother and a British father, Daryl began racing when he was only 8 years old. He entered karting races on a club and national level, before finding success in the British Kart Championship and Ultimate Kart Championship in 2018. Daryl also gained an entry into the IAME World Finals. All in all, he would amass over 150 wins and podiums in Cadet, Junior, and Senior classes in karting.

He then made his car racing debut in the Radical SR1 Cup UK’s penultimate round of 2021 at Silverstone where he delivered a trio of Rookie Cup victories, earning him the ‘Driver of the Weekend’ award. A month later Daryl returned to the series for the finale at Donington Park to secure a pair of overall race wins.

Now competing full-time in the 2022 season with Valour Racing, he went on to win 7 races with 2 podium finishes to claim the Radical SR1 Cup UK championship after a nail-biting finale at Donington Park. This would earn him an invite to the inaugural Radical Cup World Finals at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Nevada, United States. Racing in the Platinum Class with a 425 hp Radical SR10, swept all the races clean en route to becoming the 2022 Radical World Finals World Champion.

Aside from the Radical Cup UK, Daryl also made a single appearance in the GB4 Championship and finished 3rd on his debut race. He also made a quick trip to the Philippines mid-year to enter the curtain raiser of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup. Competing in the top Super Sporting Class, he went on to finish twice on the podium at the Clark International Speedway.

2023 was a busy year for Daryl, he rejoined Valour Racing this time moving up to the Radical Cup Pro SR3 category. He also won a scholarship with Team HARD. Racing to compete in the British Endurance Championship (BEC). But after only one event in the BEC driving an Audi S3 Touring Car, he was moved to the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car which he shared with Brad Thurston. The pairing turned out to be a success after they secured the Overall Championship later that year.

Meanwhile, Daryl was leading the championship up until the third round at Oulton Park until he had to give up his seat after he was called up for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The official announcement was made in July 2023 that Daryl will drive Team HARD. Racing’s Cupra León from the 6th round of the season onwards. He became the only Filipino driver to ever compete in the BTCC when he made his debut at Croft. His first championship points would come on his fourth BTCC outing at Silverstone where he finished in 4th before delivering his best-ever result at the finale in Brands Hatch with 12th.
